The Easter bunny is bringing a basket of free groceries to Thorold residents.
On Saturday, March 30, a free food giveaway is once again taking place in the parking lot of the Holy Rosary Hall.
The donor of the food is the same local business man who also organized a free food giveaway back in January and early March.
In May of last year, the anonymous donor donated over $40,000 to Niagara Nutrition Partners, through the City of Thorold.
“The anonymous donor contacted me after hearing of the funding shortage affecting school meal programs,” said Mayor Terry Ugulini, at the time. “The donor said to me that having a successful business in the city of Thorold made this donation possible and that no one should go to school hungry.”
Mayor Terry Ugulini announced the upcoming free grocery giveaway during last week's city council meeting.
"Once again this will be drive-through or walk-in," he said.
The food giveaway will take place between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 in the parking lot of the Holy Rosary Hall on Queen St.
