LIVE: Premier Doug Ford wants 14,000 people tested for COVID-19 by end of April

Premier encouraged by increased testing, but says more tests need to be done; data for new modelling numbers being gathered this week

Update:

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says that although he's encouraged by the 9,000 COVID-19 tests performed yesterday, he wants to see 14,000 people tested for COVID-19 each day in the province by the end of the month.

Meanwhile, health minister Christine Elliott says that Ontario has built 'unprecedented capacity at remarkable speed' in terms of addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, pointing to an increase of 1,500 critical care beds and more than 1,000 acute care beds in Ontario hospitals since the beginning of the pandemic.

Ford told reporters during Thursday's address that new modelling numbers for provincial COVID-19 projections will be gathered this week, and could be released as early as next week.
