The city of Elliot Lake is suddenly without a mayor.
Earlier this week, an Ontario Superior Court judge ordered Chris Patrie removed from office after concluding that he violated two sections of the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act during his previous term as a city councillor.
Patrie, who has vowed to appeal the ruling, is staying quiet for the time being. But the city is moving on, declaring his seat officially vacant and paving the way for either a by-election or an appointment.
