NRPH reports 7 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, following Monday's 4.

There are now 102 active cases in the region, according to NRPH's statistics tool and 8 active outbreaks, of which half are in long-term care and retirement facilities.

7 area schools have reported cases in either students or staff since the reopening.

 

Provincial update:

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 827 new COVID-19 cases, 691 recoveries and four deaths in today's epidemiological report. 

The province's public health agency has reported the deaths of one person between 60 and 79 years old and three people over the age of 80. Three of the people who died were residents of long-term care homes. 

There were no new patients admitted to intensive care units included in today's report, but there were 16 COVID patients hospitalized since yesterday's report.

Ontario's four hotspot regions reported 81 per cent of the new cases confirmed by the province today. Toronto reported 355 new cases, Peel reported 169 cases, York Region reported 89 new cases and Ottawa reported 58 new cases. 

The highest number of cases was reported in individuals between 20 and 39 years old (327 cases) with 226 new cases in people aged 40 to 59 years old, 125 in individuals under 19 years old, 102 new cases in people aged 60 to 79 years old, and 47 new cases in people aged 80 or older. 

The province has also confirmed 27 of today's cases were residents of long-term care homes, and 15 cases were health care workers in long-term care home settings. 

There are currently 84 active long-term care outbreaks, 48 retirement home outbreaks, and 18 outbreaks at hospitals. 

The province has confirmed 144 new school-related cases today, including 82 student cases, 12 staff cases, and 50 unidentified cases. There have been 932 school-related cases reported in the last 14 days and 1,910 school-related cases in total since the beginning of September, which have been spread across 593 schools in Ontario. There are no schools closed because of COVID-19. 

The province reported 26 new cases in childcare settings. There have been 185 cases reported in childcare settings in the last 14 days and 390 cases reported to date. 

Since last report, provincial labs have processed 23,945 COVID-19 test results and there are 22,636 tests awaiting processing. As of yesterday, the provincial per cent positivity rate is 3.8 per cent, which means 3.8 per cent of the people who are tested for COVID-19 test positive.

There are currently 7,418 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, including 312 people who are hospitalized. There are 75 COVID patients in intensive care units and 52 patients on ventilators. 

To date, the province has confirmed 72,051 cases of COVID-19, and reported 61,530 of those cases as recovered and 3,103 cases as ending in death. 

The provincial average case incidence rate is 484.7 cases per 100,000 people.
