The City of Thorold unveiled its plans for the upcoming Christmas festivities this season on Wednesday.

Traditionally, on the last Saturday of November the streets of Thorold are lined with spectators who come out to enjoy the Thorold Santa Claus Parade. Unfortunately, this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic we are unable to safely deliver this tradition.
Not to worry though, the City of Thorold’s Special Events Committee, Thorold Santa Claus Parade Committee and Thorold Business Improvement Area (BIA) have been working together to deliver alternative safe events to ensure the holiday spirit is not lost in Thorold!
The Holiday Season will be in full swing as of November 28, 2020, in the downtown Thorold BIA area. With several events planned, including but certainly not limited to:
• the grand re-opening of Downtown Thorold
• a socially distanced scavenger hunt
• virtual holiday music
• the important mailbox to deposit letters destined to the North Pole
• virtual letter readings from Santa himself,
• storytime with Mr. & Mrs. Claus; and • a dazzling holiday business & light display, downtown Thorold is the place to be this Holiday Season!
Also, be sure to check out our website (www.thorold.ca) to find the map of lights. Residents of Thorold are encouraged to send in photos of their decorated homes both inside and out to be featured on our citywide decoration map.
Submitting your display also enters you into our holiday decorating contest with great local prizes, (see website and social media for further details).
Between November 28, 2020, and January 4, 2021, members of the public are encouraged to safely visit this area to enjoy all the holiday displays starting at the corner of St. David’s Street West, heading down Front Street and looping around onto Towpath Street.
When visiting the area, please consider dropping of a non-perishable food donation at the Thorold Fire Station on Towpath Street to be delivered to Community Care.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Holiday Season!
