Niagara's public health agency has detected 40 variants in the screening of local COVID-19 cases, but has not determined what mutations the cases stem from.
The reporting tool, implemented on the region's website will be providing a breakdown of the exact strains.
32 cases were reported in the region in Wednesday's update.
Following 75 cases resolving, the number of active cases has now dropped to 167, of which 5 are in Thorold.
The death toll has remained unchanged at 369.
