Niagara Region's six water treatment facilities have scored 100 percent in the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks ratings during its 2020-2021 inspections.

The inspections were carried out to ensure the plants comply with provincial regulations.

Apart from looking into water quality, record keeping, monitoring efficiency and certifications were graded in the inspections.

Around 70 percent of Ontario's water system have been awarded a 100 percent rating, however a lower rating does not mean the drinking water is unsafe.

The results were presented to the Public Works Committee yesterday.
