Bargain hunters delight

Bargains galore were in store for Thorold shoppers Saturday

Organizers at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church have found a winning haggle-free way to host their annual yard sale.

No price tags.

Following up on the same innovative formula used at the church’s extremely successful recent book sale, they invited an eager crowd of shoppers to browse the church hall brimming with household items, and pay what they felt was right for their purchases.

Nancy Woodhouse, who volunteered accepting the freewill payments from shoppers, said the sale provided an atmosphere of “good community spirit,” as they happily took home their treasures.

Outside on the church lawn, a free barbecue was held, featuring the same pay-what-you-wish pricing model.

“It’s been really fun to see lots of friends and neighbours,” said Rev. Ken MacQuarrie, “and connect with people in the community.”

Continuing in month-long celebrations--with June being Seniors Month—the Thorold Seniors Centre also hosted its annual yard sale and barbecue Saturday.
