Even though Creata Beauty settled into a storefront on Front Street in Downtown Thorold over a year ago, the beauty shop is finally ready to have its grand opening on November 30.
Says Jeff Alford, the CEO of the CBON group, which owns Creata Beauty, “The store was opened October of last year but it was shut down most of the time. Nonetheless, we went ahead and we hired people, we started the marketing. It was a commitment we made to open up and build in the region.“
The CBON group, which encompasses different beauty brands like Creata Beauty, has been around for over 20 years and specializes in the wholesale of professional beauty products in Canada and the US.
The shop on Front Street is not only looking to sell beauty products to the general public, it also wants to educate and provide specialized tools for beauty professionals.
Says Alford, “One part is, the public can come in and buy products for themselves and then there’s a section for the professionals. If they need education for example, how to do nails, how to do hair, how to do waxing. That education is a huge part of the beauty industry.”
Alford explains that Creata Beauty is meant to empower those who want a career change, by offering courses that not only learn new beauty skills, but also teach the fundamentals of starting a new business.
The grand opening on November 30 will be marked with a ribbon cutting by mayor Terry Ugulini.
Alford says he has a personal reason for having Creata Beauty open a location in Niagara.
“I moved to St. Catharines six years ago and I love the area. When we were trying to pick a location we felt that there was a tremendous amount of character and potential being built into (Downtown Thorold) so we decided to open a location right on Front Street.”
Alford believes in the power of beauty treatments, especially during a difficult time like the pandemic, saying, “For people to get their nails done and go get their hair done, it’s really a very important part of people feeling good about themselves.”
