NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF THOROLD
************************************
Building on the success of last year’s Thorold Community Market and the Thorold BIA Car Show, the City has decided to combine both popular events on the same day for the enjoyment of residents of all ages in our community.
Starting June 5, local farmers, vendors and artisans will participate in the Thorold Community Market that runs every Wednesday evening until September 4 with a special closing celebration on Saturday, September 14. This free community market from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. takes place at the Battle of Beaverdams Park on Sullivan Avenue. Visitors can enjoy food and drink while supporting local businesses and listening to music. This year, visitors can also wander over to Front Street to admire the many classic cars that will be parked there, as part of the Thorold BIA Car Show.
“The goal of the Thorold Community Market is to support local businesses, cultivate resident engagement and community pride,” says Mayor Terry Ugulini. “The Battle of Beaverdams Park will be filled with local produce, vendors and artisans. This year, we have invited the Thorold BIA Car Show to be a part of our popular Community Market. This is a great way for our community to connect with each other once a week.”
“I’d like to thank Council and staff for their initiative and collaborative efforts in growing our Community Market and offering even more options this year to residents and visitors alike,” says Manoj Dilwaria, chief administrative officer. “We welcome the Thorold BIA Car Show on Wednesday evenings and look forward to seeing everyone for the opening on June 5 at Battle of the Beaverdams Park!”
The City is accepting applications for vendors, community groups and sponsors. For more information on sponsoring this successful event or to sign up as a vendor, please visit www.thorold.ca/market.
