UPDATE 5:10 P.M: Residents and businesses in the area are asked to shelter in place, according to NRPS. There is still no word on when the shelter in place will lift.

Fire crews were called to an address off Beaverdams Road on Tuesday afternoon following an industrial fire at an auto parts store. Police said the alarm call came in just before 3:30 P.M.
According to online reports, the fire broke out at 406 Auto Parts next to Collier Road.
A major plume of black smoke could be seen several miles away, and the smell from the fire swept in over several parts of downtown Thorold.
Police have sectioned off the area and fire crews are on the scene.
