Brock University said the outbreak of COVID-19 at its student residences has been declared over.

It was in late March that an outbreak sickened a number of students living at the residences, according to Public Health after social gatherings had been taking place among the groups, contrary to public health regulations.

Upwards of 60 students were isolated in the outbreak after contact tracing and testing had determined the scope of the situation, while Brock decided to implement an equivalent of the 'Grey'-level lockdown, closing several common spaces on the campus.

Brock said on Wednesday that it marks 14 days since the last risk for exposure at its campus associate with the outbreak, allowing public health to declare the outbreak over.

Brock will continue to be in 'Stage 1' as long as the provincewide lockdown continues. The vast majority of courses are currently being delivered online, and all athletic facilities, computer labs, the library and other areas on campus remin closed.
