City Hall is moving forward with their plans to move into the second floor of the Thorold Seniors' Centre on Carleton St. S.
As ThoroldToday reported, the City has outgrown its current headquarters on Schmon Parkway, which is why they want to move the Development Services Office into the Thorold Seniors' Centre.
It is no wonder the city is eyeing the former school building for their expansion, as it used to serve as the Thorold City Hall between 1982 and 2006.
Because the second floor is in need of renovations, the city recently put out a tender for bids for the design build.
During a public meeting on Thursday, City Hall went over the three bids in contention.
Manorcore Group is offering to do the work for $1,033,700; Moutainview Construction is offering to do the job for $697,455; and TR Hinan Contractors entered a bid of $1,139,000.
"These are the unofficial numbers," said project manager Abu Rashed, during the meeting. "We'll review those with our criteria and we'll contact the successful bidder."
There is no concrete timeline for the project, but it is expected to have some impact on the 2024 City Budget.
