Viva Las Vegas! On Saturday, Oct. 29, Stars of the Century is putting on a music night at Club Capri, paying tribute to old-time music legends.
“We have an opener, Acoustic Makeover,” organizer Pat Di Simine tells ThoroldToday. “They do covers of the sixties and seventies. After, we start with Roy Orbison. Then we got Elvis of course. Then I come out with a salute to Tom Jones and then we got a mystery guest.”
Di Simine has been performing as Elvis for over 40 years, before retiring the act a few years ago.
“I love Elvis,” he says. “I love the way he performed. His charisma, his voice, is what turned me on to music actually. I’m the kind of guy that skipped school, that used to run to the library and play all the Elvis records all day long.”
Performing as Elvis on stage is an invigorating experience, according to Di Simine.
“The people take a real warm response to you when you’re on stage,” he says. “If you ever want to feel popularity, buy yourself an Elvis suit and go on stage dressed as Elvis and watch how fast they come at your feet.”
These days Di Simine performs a tribute to Tom Jones.
“I do a salute to Tom Jones’ music,” Di Simine says. “He had so many different looks, like Elvis. If Elvis had not come along, Tom Jones would have been the Elvis Presley of the decade, of the universe. I truly believe that.”
Dinner tickets for the event are $50. If you just want to watch the show without dinner, tickets are $25. Dinner tickets have to be purchased by Saturday Oct. 22.
