To mark the upcoming start of its Winter Term, University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF) is inviting the community to join in an afternoon celebration featuring delicious food, artisan shopping, and roller skating.
Set to take place Friday, Jan. 10, the Community Market, presented in partnership with the Niagara Falls Innovation Hub, will be open to UNF students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. Held at The Exchange Cultural Hub and Market, located at 5943 Sylvia Pl., the market will be open from 2 to 7 p.m., with public roller skating from 4 to 6 p.m. While the public skate is free, participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
UNF previously partnered with the Niagara Falls Innovation Hub, a non-profit tech and startup resource center that supports the growth and success of local entrepreneurs, to host the Magnificent Fall Market at the beginning of the 2024 Fall Term.
“We are delighted to once again partner with the Niagara Falls Innovation Hub to create an event that brings together UNF students, community partners, and Niagara Falls residents,” said Felicia Werner, Executive Director of Community Engagement at UNF.
The Community Market is one of several events planned as part of the university’s New Student Orientation (NSO), which began on Monday, Jan. 6. Held before the start of each new term, NSO is a time for incoming students to become familiar with their classmates, program, and the surrounding Niagara Falls area through faculty-meet-and-greets, campus tours, academic sessions, and social activities.
“This market is an excellent opportunity for students to build meaningful connections and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of our city,” said Werner.
UNF will welcome 900 new students for the Winter Term. Classes start on Monday, Jan. 13.
