NEWS RELEASE
COMMUNITY CARE
*************************
On Friday, March 1 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Market Square in downtown St. Catharines, you can fill up and feel good by supporting Community Care’s local programming at the 13th annual Downtown Chili Cook-Off.
This year, eleven vendors will face-off and feature chilis ranging from Texas style with no beans, to meat and bean and even vegetarian. New teams and returning champions will vie for top judge’s marks, the People’s Choice award and bragging rights that last all year long.
Admission is $10 and includes chili and your voting ballots. One hundred per cent of the proceeds will help to facilitate the programs and services provided by Community Care supporting St. Catharines and Thorold.
A panel of judges will weigh in on their favourites through a blind tasting and votes will be tabulated for People’s Choice winner in both best chili and best booth categories.
Also joining us is Oast House Brewers serving samples of their sensational suds and music will fill Market Square with sweet sounds.
This year’s contenders competing to see who has the beans (or not) are:
- The Royal Henley Retirement Community
- Brock Dining Services
- TMS 360 and the Bteam Realtors
- In the Smoke Cookery, Mission
- 35 Mortgages and Remax Niagara's Team Finora
- Real Canadian Superstore
- Brushfire Smoke BBQ
- Kiwanis Club of St. Catharines/Dani's Bistro
- The Upper Deck Taphouse
- Fiddler's Pourhouse and Kully's Original Sports Bar.
A huge thank you goes out to our Spicy Title Sponsors and chili enthusiasts Sally McGarr Realty, Medium Sponsor Sullivan Mahoney LLP, Mild Sponsor Justin Chausse from Neighborhood Dominion Lending, Oast House Brewers and H2Only for their continued support of this event.
