Four patients passed away after contracting Covid-19 on Tuesday, Niagara Health said on Thursday. All the deceased patients were residents of Niagara.
The single-day jump hiked the total death toll up to 542 since the pandemic began, and comes on the same day as Public Health reported 99 new cases.
There are now just under 2,000 cases active in the community.
Niagara Health is caring for 35 patients, primarily treated for Covid-19, and 45 others who have tested positive, but are in the hospital for other reasons.
