In early November, 50by30Niagara and Biodiversity and Climate Action Niagara will be holding a couple of free public webinars on the Green Energy Transition. Everyone in the Niagara Region is invited to attend.

On Nov. 7, expert panelists will discuss Sustainable Home Heating/Cooling with Zero Emission Buildings - Our speakers will share ways for home and small business owners to reduce their heating and cooling bills by installing heat pumps and how large buildings and even whole neighbourhoods can lower their energy costs by implementing geo-thermal systems. We’ll also provide information on how to manage up-front installation costs with homeowner rebates and loans as well as financing options for large capital-intensive geo-thermal projects. The presentations will be followed by a Q and A session.

This webinar will be of interest to anyone thinking about replacing an old furnace or AC unit or simply lowering their greenhouse gas emissions, as well as developers/builders looking to join the global trend to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.

On Nov. 14, our Ontario-based speakers will discuss Local Renewable Energy Power Generation, specifically on how solar and wind technologies can help individuals, businesses and municipalities better manage energy costs while lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Information will also be provided about Ontario-based co-operatives, with programs that can help manage costs as well as provide investment opportunities. The presentations will be followed by a Q and A session.

This webinar will be of interest to any individual, business or government entity looking to potentially reduce their monthly energy bills, as well as those interested in learning how the Province and Niagara Region could better manage energy costs while reducing air pollution, including greenhouse gas emissions.

Both webinars will start at 7 p.m. and will be just over an hour long, depending on the number of questions received from the attendees.
