A campaign to build a new hospital in the Niagara Region has been launched, and seeks to raise $1.2 million from the community for construction of the facility.

Stakeholders are looking to construct the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, replacing the current hospital, built in 1950, and subject to a community effort to keep it open amid lost funding.

The campaign, dubbed ‘Take it to the Finish’ looks for donations as the planned construction of the new hospital, located behind the current hospital, needs to raise a total of $50 million, with $32 million already secured through regional funding.

The West Lincoln Memorial Hospital will be designed specifically with an aging population in mind, and will have both in-patient rooms as well as an ER, while maternity services will continue to be offered.
