Niagara Police say a man in crisis assaulted two police officers and barricaded himself in a residence in Grimsby on Wednesday morning, prompting a big police presence in the area of Murray and Olive Street.
"Out of an abundance of caution Lakeview Elementary and a nearby daycare have been put on lockdown," NRPS tweeted just before noon on Wednesday.
Police are asking residents to stay away from the area for the time being.

8D District Uniform officers were called to the area of Murray St and Olive St at approx 10am for the report of a male in crisis.
Subsequently two officers were assaulted and the male barricaded himself inside his residence in the area.
