Here's what to do in Niagara Falls this upcoming PD Day

CITY OF NIAGARA FALLS

The City of Niagara Falls will host a variety of programs for kids and families to enjoy on the upcoming PD Day, Friday, Nov. 29. The MacBain Community Centre, Niagara Falls Exchange, Niagara Falls History Museum, and Gale Centre Arena all have something to offer. 

Registered and drop-in activities include: 

Birds of Prey with Mountsberg Conservation
Mountsberg Raptor Centre, an education facility that houses both Ontario native and non-native birds of prey, will visit The Exchange with a few of its winged ambassadors. Join these live birds to learn more about their biology, human impacts on wildlife, and positive actions guests can take in their lives to benefit animals and the environment. 

  • Where: The Niagara Falls Exchange, 5943 Sylvia Place
  • When: Two shows are running: 
    • 11 a.m. - noon
    • 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Who: All ages. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
  • Price: $5 per person or free for Members
  • Register on ActiveNet, 11 a.m. show, 1 p.m. show

After the show, attendees are invited to explore the Museum galleries and complete a scavenger hunt.

Crazy Clay Creations
Join us for a hands-on art workshop hosted by the Niagara Falls Art Gallery at the MacBain Community Centre! Participants will be guided through creating their own clay artwork. 

There are two classes:

  • Where: MacBain Community Centre, 7150 Montrose Road
  • When: 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Who: Ages 4 - 7
  • Price: $10 per person

The only thing participants need to bring is their imagination!

Ukulele Lessons
Join our Ukulele 101 workshop at the MacBain Community Centre. We'll cover the basics and learn to play a song or two. Participants will be guided through creating their own clay artwork. Ukulele not provided.

There are two classes:

  • Where: MacBain Community Centre, 7150 Montrose Road
  • When: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Who: Ages 7 - 12
  • Price: $3.50 per person
  • This session is full. Register for the waiting list here. 
Drop-In Programs
Pop by MacBain Community Centre for family-focused drop-in activities:

Drop-In Badminton
  • When: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Price: $5 per person / $10 per family
Drop-In Basketball
  • When: 4:15 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. 
  • Price: $5 per person / $10 per family
Drop-In Table Tennis
  • When: 1 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.
  • Price: $5 per person / $10 per family
Indoor Playground
  • When: 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Who: Ages 4 - 12 (parent supervision required)
  • Price: $7 per person / $15 per family
Day Passes available: For only $10 per child, $15 per adult, and $25 per family, you can access all the great drop-in programs, including the pool and pay structure.

Hit up the MacBain Community Centre Pool this PD Day with Open Swim!

  • When: 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Leisure
  • When:
    • 8 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
    • 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Public Skating
Grab your skates and head to the Gale Centre Arena (5152 Thorold Stone Road) this PD Day!

Skate times include:
  • Public Skating: 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Youth Stick & Puck: 3 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
Niagara Falls Public Libraries
On your day off from school, have some fun at the library with board games, crafts, and obstacle challenges.
  • Where: Victoria Avenue, Stamford Centre, Community Centre Libraries & Chippawa Willoughby Memorial Arena
  • When: 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Who: All age
  • Price: FREE
