Valentine’s Day was celebrated by Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA) with a mixed doubles tournament organized entirely by volunteer members. The Club was adorned with festive hearts and chocolate galore. The two top winning teams were Ray DeJonge/Kathy Bott and Lou and Liz Venneri. Each winner received a bottle of delicious rose wine generously donated by Sons and Daughters Winery, Pelham’s first and only local winery.

This is the fifth social event NIPA has organized for its members since opening its doors just under five months ago.

“The vision from inception was always to create a fun pickleball and social Club,” said James Fraser, NIPA president. “Pickleball is a very social sport so we wanted to build a strong sense of community where people care about each other. We’re proud of our positive playing atmosphere and the many friendships that the Club has facilitated.”

In addition to ample play time and social events, NIPA also offers regular “Skills and Drills” sessions for members to help aid in development of shot consistency and other required abilities to improve enjoyment of the game. The Club is currently searching for a fitness trainer to design and run pickleball physical fitness classes at the facility.

NIPA members also have the option to book private court rentals during low-demand time periods to share the sport with family and friends.

Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association operates out of Concordia Academy on Centre St. in Fenwick. The Club is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week and has grown to 140 members, including beginner, intermediate and competitive levels.
