A new regional award praising Niagara residents who made a positive impact on life in the region will be handed out by the regional chair in June.
Earlier today, in his 2021 State of the Region address, Jim Bradley launched the Niagara Impact Awards. The commemoration will be handed out to individuals, businesses, and non-profits who have 'shown a spirit of volunteerism and community' during the 2020-2021 pandemic.
Niagara residents are encouraged to submit nominations in these three categories through this link.
An independent committee will review the nominations and select the recipients, and winners will be announced at the region's council meeting on June 24.
"We all know someone who has made a real difference in our community over the last 13 months, and I encourage all Niagarans to consider nominating those individuals to be recognized through the Niagara Impact Awards. I look forward to reviewing all submissions in the coming weeks, and selecting those that have gone above and beyond to make Niagara a better place in which to live," said Bradley in a comment.
Nominations will close on May 21.
