The Thorold Legion, Branch 17, will be holding its annual Remembrance Day ceremony at Memorial Park this Thursday, but just as last year, attendees are not officially invited.

“The rules seem to be changing so quickly, it is hard to keep up,” said Ken Smalko of Thorold Legion Branch 17.

“But we will be laying down the wreath, and paying tribute.”

Last years ceremony, despite more stringent protocols, brought spectators out who stood around as the members gathered around the cenotaph for the ceremony.

The moment of silence will be held at 11 a.m.

“Next year we are hoping to go full steam ahead,” Smalko said.

Canada has observed Remembrance Day since 1931.

ThoroldToday will be live-streaming the event on Facebook.
