Ashlyn Minor and fellow third-generation members of the Minor family witnessed their new store’s grand opening in Thorold.
In earlier Minor Bros. stores incarnations, “Ashlyn Minor’s grandpa said all his products fit on an eight-foot shelf, so he’s amazed how far we’ve come,” retail general manager Gary Cartlidge told ThoroldNews following opening ceremonies last Saturday.
Shoppers arrived in droves to get a glimpse of the new 13,000-foot store, which includes an additional 13,000 feet for the warehouse and back section.
“This is our newest store,” added Cartlidge. “We always had a store in Fonthill and Pelham, but they were old buildings. In Stevensville, we had a fire two years ago, so we rebuilt it and decided to build a more rural hardware store, which is better for customers and has good country service. We do carry-outs for people. We will be renovating our Canboro store and eventually, they will all be to this standard,” he said, referring to the spacious new superstore.
With farmers and rural residents in mind, Minor Bros. features equine, poultry and pet sections, as well as household goods, outdoor furniture, work wear, hardware, paint, and automotive items.
Their indoor Apple Bin is stocked with homemade pies, cider and other fresh apple products.
The new store is located at 2705 Hwy 20 East in Thorold.
