'Murdoch Mysteries' draws residents to downtown Thorold

Filming on Front Street South and Albert Street West is underway

Excitement was in the air on Monday morning, as Thorold residents flocked to the downtown to watch the filming of 'Murdoch Mysteries'.

The popular detective show, set in early 1900s Toronto, revolves around the work of Det. William Murdoch, his wife, Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) and Murdoch’s colleagues at Station 4 of the Toronto Constabulary.

For the episode that was being filmed, Front St. S was completely transformed into 1900s Grimsby, as actors and crews got to work on creating some TV magic.

Several store fronts received a period-specific visual overhaul, and old-fashioned motor vehicles dotted the street.

The event led to a lot of excited chatter from residents as they witnessed the once-in-a-lifetime event.
