A new fire truck will set the city back around 800,000 dollars.
It was in the 2021 budget that city council approved that amount to be used for a new pumper rescue fire truck to add to the fleet of the city’s fire service vehicles.
Staff recommended council to award the contract to Darch Fire, who moved a bid at just over $719,000, and that the remaining balance be used for mobile radios and extenders, and additional hoses and appliances.
If you happen to be an enthusiast of local fire vehicles, there is currently a 1977 GMC Rally Wagon Pumper for sale on Facebook Marketplace, previously used by Thorold Fire. The only drawback is that the vehicle is listed in Abbotsford, BC.
