The schedule has changed for filming to take place in Thorold for an episode of Murdoch Mysteries.
Originally, it was disclosed that crews would arrive in the city today to begin setting up for filming on Front Street South on Friday. That has been changed, however.
Instead, crews from Shaftsbury Films, which produces the long-running series, currently airing Monday nights at 8 p.m. on CBC, will set up on Friday with filming taking place Monday and into Tuesday.
Thorold BIA chair Serge Carpino said it was good news.
“Certainly, the opportunity for us to host filming of Murdoch Mysteries speaks to the renaissance the city has gone through over the past few years,” he said. “It reiterates what I have said always that downtown Thorold is the best-kept secret in Niagara.”
Front Street South will not be closed to traffic or pedestrians during the filming and notices will be hand-delivered to businesses notifying them of the details.
Set in early 1900s Toronto, Murdoch Mysteries revolves around the work of Det. William Murdoch, his wife, Dr. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) and Murdoch’s colleagues at Station 4 of the Toronto Constabulary, notably Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), Const. George Crabtree (Jonny Harris). Murdoch, played by veteran Canadian actor Yannick Bisson, often uses work methods that were far ahead of policing at that time.
