NIAGARA PARKS

NIAGARA FALLS – Beginning the week of Jan. 13, 2025, a skilled team of arborists from the Niagara Parks Horticulture department will be working in conjunction with the City of Niagara Falls to maintain the steep moraine embankment area located along Portage Road beneath the Marriott Hotel property.
The goal of the project is to improve the forest health through management of existing vegetation, while removing invasive trees, as well as any hazardous trees that overhang Portage Road that pose a risk to public safety. Due to the challenging nature of the steep terrain, the project team will require the use of cranes, bucket trucks and wood chippers to safely perform the work.
This project will take about four weeks to complete, weather permitting. A full road closure will take place Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m. along Portage Road, from the top of the Falls Incline Railway to Marineland Parkway. Detours will be directed via Stanley Avenue.
There will be no disruption to surrounding businesses. All Niagara Parks operations, including parking lots, the Falls Incline Railway and WEGO bus service, will remain open as usual throughout the work period.
