Chrysanthemum Show at the Floral Showhouse
Fall for a dazzling display of bright yellows and orange mixed with rich burgundies and fresh green tones featured in this year’s Chrysanthemum Show, now on display at the Floral Showhouse. This enchanting display features an array of potted and exhibition mums in a stunning autumnal arrangement. All Hallows Eve at Old Fort Erie
Seeking thrills and chills this October? Take a haunted candlelit ghost tour of Old Fort Erie, the site of Canada’s bloodiest battlefield. Learn the history behind Halloween's most cherished traditions and explore the Officers' Quarters, where the spirit of Captain Kingsley is said to linger. Tea and Tasseomancy at McFarland House
Step back in time and discover the ancient art of tea leaf reading at McFarland House. The Museum of Tasseomancy, a curated collection of teacups, rare books and textiles from local expert Amy Lou Taylor, is on display now until Sunday, October 27, 2024. The unique exhibit offers an intriguing glimpse into origins of tasseomancy and is included with admission.
As part of the exhibit, Taylor will lead exclusive workshops on October 20 and 27. Participants will learn about the rich history, superstitions and tools of tea leaf reading before trying it themselves. Don’t miss out on the magic of this whimsical afternoon. Literary Series Features Dr. Caroline Cauchi on Oct. 17
Get ready for the second lecture in the four-part Coast to Coast Literary Series at the Laura Secord Homestead. On Thursday, October 17, 2024, Dr. Caroline Cauchi will discuss her book, The Queen of the Mist. The historical fiction novel, inspired by a true story, tells the tale of Mrs. Annie Edson Taylor —the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel and survive. Tickets are $15 per person. Community Tree Planting Day at Old Fort Erie
Niagara Parks, in partnership with the Niagara Parks Foundation, invites all to participate in Community Tree Planting Day at Old Fort Erie on Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to noon. This free, family-friendly event, is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, contribute to environmental sustainability and make a meaningful impact in the community.
