NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara Parks continues to invest in repairs and improvements along the Niagara River corridor, with several upcoming infrastructure projects planned for the central area of Queen Victoria Park. These initiatives reflect Niagara Parks' commitment to enhancing these vital assets both to improve the guest experience within this popular tourism area but also to deliver on its mandate of protecting and preserving the properties and infrastructure along the Niagara River corridor.

Queen Victoria Park Public Washroom and Driveway Revitalization

Beginning Sept. 17, 2024, Niagara Parks will undertake a comprehensive project to replace the driveway and road leading to the outdoor public washroom facility within Queen Victoria Park (adjacent to the event field at the corner of Murray Street and the Niagara Parkway). The public washroom project also includes 240 metres of trail that runs from Murray Street, along the Moraine to the washroom building. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of October 2024.

Table Rock Centre

Improvements are underway at Table Rock Centre, including upgrades to the north side fire exit. This work will improve public safety while providing a more long-term solution to icy winter conditions, eliminating the need to install temporary wooden infrastructure during the winter months.

Additionally, a crane has been mobilized on the north side of the building for the installation of piping as part of the infrastructure project to heat the viewing platform at the Niagara Parks Power Station + Tunnel. Pedestrian traffic has been rerouted around the construction zone.

Work has also begun on a new flying ride attraction on the top floor of Table Rock Centre, replacing Niagara’s Fury. This project will continue through winter with a slated opening to the public in the summer of 2025.

Exterior Work at Niagara Parks Power Station

New public washrooms are being built on the west side of the Niagara Parks Power Station, with completion expected by spring 2025. This addition will elevate restroom facilities in Queen Victoria Park and significantly improve the guest experience in this busy area.

Recreational Trail Improvements

Repairs are underway on the Niagara River Recreation Trail between White Water Walk and the Whirlpool Aero Car. This project involves removing and replacing approximately 800 metres of concrete curb and sidewalk, aiming to improve the trail’s usability and appearance. Construction began on Sept. 16, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 27, 2024.

Repairs to Electrical Infrastructure at Dufferin Islands

Electrical infrastructure updates have begun in Dufferin Islands, with closures in place until Nov. 1, 2024. Perimeter parking and trails will be closed, but interior trails and pedestrian bridges will remain open. Burning Springs Hill will continue to provide one-way access into the site, as well as access between Burning Springs Hill and the Niagara Parkway.

Road Resurfacing Improvements

Starting Sept. 18, 2024, asphalt resurfacing will take place from Mechanic Street to Upper Rapids Boulevard, including both sides of Upper Rapids Boulevard. Traffic control measures will be in place to ensure continued vehicle passage through the work areas. This work is expected to be completed by Oct. 31, 2024.
