The most central park in Thorold looks like little else than a mud pit currently–but the city has maintained that the major rehaul of Battle of Beaverdams park will be completed in June 'at the very latest.'
That prediction came from a senior city manager during a January meeting, and since then the city has not made any official comments on whether the project is still on track. On Wednesday afternoon, the park was quiet, and no construction equipment visible, however some signs of work were apparent, with walkways starting to emerge, and what looked like a platform ready for filling with concrete.
ThoroldToday asked the senior city management for an update on the project, but did not hear back in time for publication.
Earlier this month, city council theorized that the park could be one of the locations for a potential farmers market, making use of the planned electric supply in the park.
It was a year ago that the official design plan was adopted. The project cost has been cited as coming in at around $650,000.
