Over the past week Prince of Wales School has been visited by some wildlife that attracted attention and provided some lessons in nature.
Principal Susan Lawrence sent photos and told the ThoroldNews, "We are having lots of student lessons about being good neighbours with our local wildlife. A beekeeper came to our school to smoke the swarm after the students had left for the day, but the queen had her own schedule. By the time he arrived, the bees had moved and were nowhere in sight. Students were fascinated to talk about the environmental concerns about keeping our honey bees. This swarm had about 5,000 bees, the beekeeper said."
A couple of days later, a baby raccoon was spotted in one of the school's trees.
"The baby raccoon decided to rest in our tree today. In both cases, school personnel kept watch so that everyone was safe," said Lawrence.
