A full day of fun activities is set for Saturday June 10 at Pelham Fire Station One, 177 Highway 20 in Fonthill.

As part of celebration of 100 years of firefighting in Fonthill, the Fonthill Volunteer Fire Association and Pelham Fire Department have planned a day full of great firefighting related activities starting at 10 a.m.

We will be featuring demonstrations of our auto-extrication tools (“jaws-of-life”) at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. along with displays of antique and current firefighting equipment with firefighters on hand to explain how everything works.

There will be fun for the kids with a firefighting themed house and a free hot dog BBQ for all. Inside the hall, will be a display celebrating the history of the Fonthill Fire Department along with information on fire prevention.

At the end of the day, we will have the second of four draws for the Association’s year-long lottery. The prize this time is an emergency preparedness kit valued at approximately $500.The day is put on with help from our fellow associations in Fenwick (Station Two) and Shorthills (Station Three) along with our friends at Enbridge.

The Fonthill Volunteer Fire Association represents active and retired firefighters who serve at Station One on Highway 20 in Fonthill. In addition to being volunteer firefighters, the Association supports local charities such as Pelham Cares along with participating in fire prevention efforts. The next event in our year-long celebration will be on Sept. 16 when the Association will be  hosting a community dance with the band Vinyl Flux. This will be followed on Nov. 24 by our new and improved annual Fall Turkey Raffle.
