A local speedway ace will be honoured in Thorold this coming Saturday–with a memorial race.

‘Flyin’ Brian Stevens made his mark in the Niagara region as a long-time modified racer and champion at Merrittville, Humberstone and Ransomville tracks. Scoring nearly 150 feature wins during a 30-year span, Stevens was eventually elected into the CAA Niagara Wall of Fame.

Stevens passed away in 2015, five years after retiring.

On Saturday, Merrittville Speedway will open the Pit gates at 5 p.m, grandstands at 5:30, and races will commence at 7 p.m.

The event is presented by  2cool Automotive. As part of the Brian Stevens Memorial night, there will be a $444 Pole Dash challenge for the Modifieds.
