Rev your engines, car aficionados, two popular car shows are returning to Niagara-on-the-Lake this month.
On Aug. 11, the Kinsmen Club of Niagara-on-the-Lake, in partnership with Parks Canada, will host their 24th Show and Shine from 9 a.m. until 4 .pm.
“Last year,” said Kinsmen member Ken Slingerland, “we had over 484 cars, and we stopped counting around 1:30.” There were about 1500 spectators, he added.
Spectator admission is $5, with proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis, Girl Guides, NOTL Minor Lacrosse and other local charities.
“We have our grilled BBQ back bacon on a bun, hamburgers and hot dogs,” said Slingerland. “The Beer Gardens are also very popular.”
The event is held at the Kinsmen Scout Hall at the intersection of King and Mary Streets.
The St. Davids Lions Club Show and Shine, on Aug. 18, is located at their club park at 1462 York Road, St. Davids.
Cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome and there is a $15 registration fee.
There is free parking and free admission for the public and the Lions Club members will be cooking burgers, hot dogs and fries. A beer tent, music, 50/50 draw and penny sale will also be available.
The fundraiser recipient for this event is Food4Kids Niagara, a non-profit organization which provides packages of healthy food for elementary school students with limited or no access to food on weekends during the school year and throughout the summer months.
