Niagara Parks, in partnership with the City of Niagara Falls, will implement planned road closures across key tourism areas near the Falls to prioritize public safety on New Year’s Eve.

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the Niagara Parkway between Clifton Hill and Fraser Hill will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 7 p.m., with a full road closure in place by 8 p.m. Clifton Hill will also be closed during that time to vehicular traffic from Victoria Avenue to Falls Avenue.

Murray Street, from the Niagara Parkway to Warren Avenue (Skylon Driveway) will be closed beginning at 7 p.m., with the full closure of the road from Skylon Driveway to Fallsview Boulevard in place at 10 p.m.

All road closures will be at the discretion of the Niagara Parks Police Service and Niagara Regional Police Service and timing may be adjusted as required. In the event of inclement weather or lower-than-anticipated visitation levels, closures may be modified or cancelled.

By closing these roadways to vehicular traffic, pedestrians will have smoother and safer access throughout the core tourism area during holiday celebrations that typically bring higher visitation to Niagara Falls. This will also assist the Niagara Parks Police Service and Niagara Regional Police Service in managing the area, as well as providing controlled access for emergency services.

Parking and Transportation

All Niagara Parks operations, including parking lots and WEGO bus services, will run as usual on New Year’s Eve. Guests should anticipate potential service delays or disruptions on routes through the tourist area. More information about WEGO bus service is available here.

Guests driving to Niagara Falls are encouraged to take advantage of the many parking lots in the area, especially Niagara Parks’ Rapidsview Parking Lot, which offers $10 parking and a convenient shuttle service to and from Table Rock Centre. For more information about parking, click here.

The Falls Incline Railway will operate until 1 a.m. to assist guests travelling to Queen Victoria Park for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, including fireworks displays over Niagara Falls at 8 p.m. and midnight.
