Santa to have breakfast in Port Robinson

On Saturday, Dec. 3 the Port Robinson Community Centre is hosting its annual 'Breakfast with Santa'; 'Every year we just see this getting bigger and better'

Port Robinson is getting into the Christmas spirit. On Saturday, Dec. 3 the community centre on Cross St is hosting its annual ‘Breakfast with Santa.’

“We’re having breakfast as always,” says the chair of the community centre’s board, Marty Wilson, in an interview with ThoroldToday. “We also have Santa and everyone will have a chance to talk to him. We have gift bags all made up for the kids.”

The community response to the event has already been overwhelming.

“We just posted this two days ago and the first seating is already full,” Wilson says. “We must be doing something right. Every year we just see this getting bigger and better. The response is awesome.”

Ten-year-old Jack Hirst will also be present at the Santa Brunch to collect donations for his ‘Share The Warmth' campaign.

“That little fella is awesome,” says Wilson. “We have a community garage sale in June and every year Jack has a lemonade stand. The proceeds of last year’s lemonade stand he donated to spend for our little free library. He amazes me.”

The Santa Brunch isn’t the only Christmas event in Port Robinson. There is also the annual Christmas lights contest being organized by Port Robinson Proud on Dec. 9.

“All we have to do is turn our lights on and they go around judging the best display,” Wilson says. “They give out gift certificates and stuff for best dressed homes. That’s part of Christmas in Port Robinson as well.”

Why is it that Port Robinson loves Christmas so much?

“I don’t know about everybody else but I always have,” Wilson says. “That’s one of my favourites. That’s real family time for me.”

To reserve a seat at the 11 a.m. seating of the 'Breakfast with Santa' email the community centre.
