Peek into the glass display window at the Thorold Public Library and you’ll see a Sak’s Fifth Avenue bracelet, Master Cut knives, and other valuable items up for bidding.
It’s all part of a successful Silent Auction program.
Hosted by the Friends of the Library, the volunteer group which raises funds to enhance the Library, each Silent Auction runs for six weeks and features eight to 10 items, prominently displayed in the foyer.
According to circulation staff member Bev Carew, this is the fifth in a series of Silent Auctions, with all items donated to the Library and solicited by the Friends.
Previous Silent Auctions have featured handmade quilts and other popular items, which have raised enough funds to buy the fireplace in the Library, a microfilm reader, and “anything we need in programming,” she told the Thorold News.
Carew encourages Thoroldites to come and place their silent bid to support the Library.
