Siltech Corporation’s expansion to Fort Erie is expected to create 51 good-paying jobs.
Its $100 million investment will build a new 210,000 square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
The company makes specialty silicone that is used in the personal care, automotive, agriculture, pulp and paper, and oil and gas industries.
“The facility will include new state-of-the-art technology to increase production and help the company meet growing demand and expand to new markets around the world,” said the province in a news release.
“As part of this investment to expand operations, the government is providing $5 million in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.”
This will be Siltech's third facility in the province.
Siltech’s president said the company is excited to build in Fort Erie.
“We are a proud Canadian company and look forward to many years of growth in this community,” Dag Enhorning stated.
Mayor Wayne H. Redekop called it an exciting project adding he's happy Siltech recognizes the potential Fort Erie has to offer.
“This remarkable $100 million investment here in Fort Erie, with the support of the Province, Region, and municipality, will create much-needed employment opportunities and is a testament to Siltech’s unwavering confidence in our vibrant community,” he said.
“By choosing Fort Erie, Siltech becomes an integral part of our thriving manufacturing landscape, paving the way for further growth and prosperity.”
To date, Ontario has provided more than $95 million to support 88 projects through the Regional Development Program, leveraging more than $990 million in new investments and helping to create close to 2,000 jobs in the province.
