Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Niagara Falls - Welland - Southern Niagara Region

Snow squalls are expected today through to Tuesday afternoon.

Hazards:
Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm possible by Tuesday afternoon over some areas.
Significantly reduced visibilities due to heavy snow and blowing snow.

Timing:
This morning through to Tuesday afternoon.

Discussion:
Snow squalls over Lake Erie are moving northward towards southern portions of the Niagara Peninsula. Snow squalls are expected through the day Monday and into Tuesday afternoon before moving south of the area. Total snowfall amounts along the Lake Erie shoreline near 30 cm are possible along with blowing snow due to southwesterly winds gusting near 60 km/h.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
