As North America eagerly anticipates the breathtaking occurrence of the total solar eclipse on April 8, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board is thrilled to announce a special illumination display to complement the celestial spectacle. On the evening of Monday, April 8, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board will illuminate the Canadian Horseshoe and American Falls with a specially designed illumination show in celebration of the total solar eclipse.

Running at 8, 8:30, 9 and 9:30 p.m., a special solar eclipse-themed light show will grace the iconic falls. This enchanting display will feature captivating colours and sequences inspired by the eclipse.

The last time a total eclipse was visible in Ontario and Western New York was in the 1970s, and it won't be visible again in Niagara Falls until 2144, making this a rare opportunity for residents and visitors alike.

All special illumination requests are reviewed and approved by the Niagara Falls Illumination Board, which has financed and operated the “illumination of Niagara Falls” since 1925. The Niagara Falls Illumination Board is made up of representatives from the City of Niagara Falls Ontario, City of Niagara Falls, New York, Ontario Power Generation Inc., New York Power Authority, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and The Niagara Parks Commission. It is the Illumination Board’s responsibility and mandate to finance and maintain the nightly illumination of both the Horseshoe and American Falls.
