Fat Rabbit on Geneva Street in St. Catharines is making waves.

The butcher shop and restaurant has come 8th in a list of best new restaurants published by Air Canada's EnRoute Magazine on Monday.

“Taking the No. 8 spot among some of the best restaurant professionals this country has to offer is a surreal experience and incredible achievement,” Fat Rabbit's owners write on Instagram

Fat Rabbit was also named Best Concept of the Year.

“Being able to bring sustainable, ethically raised, pastured meat to our community and help raise awareness to the negative implications of industrial farming, is at the core of everything we do,” the restaurant owners write.

This year’s list of Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants was put together by Tara O’Brady, who is a renowned Canadian food writer and chef.

Other Ontario restaurants on the list are Bar Prima in Toronto, Takja BBQ House in Toronto, and Mhel in Toronto.

The message seems loud and clear: Niagara is a top destination for foodies.
