Thorold 50+ Centre’s Seedy Saturday brings on thoughts of spring

Event featured a variety of activities for all ages

While it was most definitely still winter outside the Thorold Centre 50+ on Saturday, Spring was in the air on the inside as the centre hosted its second annual Seedy Saturday event.

And judging by what little remained available in the event’s seed exchange by 1 p.m., the event was a success.

“We went through the whole seed table which was which is part of the point,” said Brenda Bator, president of the Thorold 50+ Association, who was helping with the event. “We're very happy that it turned out as well as it turned out.”

In addition to the seed exchange, the event included vendors, both garden and non-garden related, and activities for kids, including an opportunity for young ones to get their faces painted by student volunteers from Thorold Secondary School.

Visitors also had an opportunity to sit in on a presentation by Paul Gellatly, former curatorial gardener for the Toronto Zoo.

The event was a collaboration between the Thorold Centre 50+, the Thorold Age-friendly Committee, the Thorold Public Library, The Thorold Community Activities Group and the City of Thorold.
