In an overnight blitz, Thorold woke up covered in snow, closing schools - even the virtual ones - along with businesses, eager to reopen as the end of the stay-at-home order looms.
The city pleaded with residents on Tuesday morning to park all vehicles off the roadways, warning that they might get towed by by-law enforcement.
The city also asked for residents to ensure that fire hydrants are easily accessible for emergency services, warning that it is illegal to cover a fire hydrant in snow.
The region said road crews have been working overnight to maintain roads and keep them passable for vehicles, but that weather has slowed them down.
Most regional facilities are closed today.
Public transit is still running, but expect some delays.
