In spite of a desperate plea for volunteers back in September, the 2021 Thorold Santa Claus Parade could not be saved.

“After last years’ cancellation, despite our best efforts, the Thorold Santa Claus Parade Committee is disappointed to confirm that the parade will not take place this year,” said a press release from the city committee in charge of organizing the parade.

Even though the parade is cancelled, Christmas festivities will still be happening in Downtown Thorold.

“The committee is currently working with the City of Thorold to bring back the Downtown light display, another city-wide decorating contest, and a special surprise to be announced very soon.”

And thus falls the curtain on what would have been the 30th anniversary of the Santa Claus Parade.

The committee is hopeful that next year the parade will happen again, saying, “While we certainly look forward to the 30th Thorold Santa Claus Parade in 2022, this will not be possible without new volunteers joining and helping the committee.”

If you are interested in volunteering next year, please contact the committee at [email protected].

Stay tuned for more updates about this year's Christmas festivities in Downtown Thorold.
