Thorold seniors active living fair coming Oct. 17

The Thorold 50+ Centre is hosting a seniors active living fair on Oct. 17.

The event, which will feature exhibitors, demonstrations, healthy snacks and more, runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the centre, located at 8 Carleton St. South.

The fair will include presentations by Sara McVanel, author of the book, Greatness Magnified, called “Recognition for Older Adults” at 9:30 a.m. and Jennifer Heisz, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Brain Health and Aging in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University, on “Defying Dementia” at 11:15 a.m.

Both presentations are expected to last approximately 45 minutes.

At 1 p.m., students from the Trillium Massage Therapy will be providing mini back massages and blood pressure checks. Booking in advance is required.

Healthy snacks and refreshments will also be available.

The fair is being presented by the 50+ Centre, the Thorold Activities Group, The Thorold Age-Friendly Committee and is funded through a grant from the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario and provincial government funding.
