Actor and comedian Chris Locke (Mr. D., Baroness von Sketch Show, Run the Burbs, What We Do In the Shadows) is headlining the next Comedy Night in Pelham on Oct. 19 in the Meridian Community Centre’s Accursi Room.

David Green promises the next Comedy Night in Pelham is a “Locke” to be an evening filled with laughs. That’s because organizers were able to bring in actor and stand-up comedian Chris Locke (Mr. D., Baroness von Sketch Show, Run the Burbs, What We Do In the Shadows) as the headliner for the Oct. 19 show at the Meridian Community Centre’s Accursi Room.

“We’re very excited to have him come down, because he's the winner of the Canadian Comedy Award for the best male stand-up, which is the highest honor you could win in Canada as a stand-up comedian,” Green said, adding he recently did an improve show with Locke in Niagara-on-the-Lake with fellow comedian Sean Cullen.

It's nice to see the improv side of him, and then see the stand-up side of him, too,” Green said. He’s a multi-talented performer.”

Green will be hosting the event, which also features comedians Wes Zaharuk and Pelham’s Bernie Law.

The latter, Green said, was a hidden gem who, without any real experience, approached Green about getting up on stage at an event to get his feet wet.

“When we first started doing these comedy shows in Pelham, he came out to the first one and chatted with me, saying how all his life, he's wanted to do comedy, but he never knew how to get into it.”

Eventually, Law was given a five-minute spot at a show.

“Audiences loved him,” Green said, adding the upcoming show at the MCC will be the third time Law will get up before a hometown audience.

Zaharuk, Green said, is a veteran of the Canadian comedy scene.

“They call him Wes 'Prop Man' Zaharuk, because he always brings a lot of props and stuff on stage with him.”

Tickets are $30 each or $200 for a table of eight, and can be purchased at gardencitycomedyfestival.com. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8.
