Traffic calming measures at Pine St intersection take effect

The City has installed delineator posts, in an effort to narrow the road and force traffic to slow down

This busy downtown intersection is about to become a whole lot calmer.

City Hall has introduced traffic calming measures at the intersection of Pine St. And Sullivan Ave.

As ThoroldToday reported, residents are worried about the traffic safety at the four-way stop. With plans for a McDonald’s on the corner well underway, there are concerns that the issue will only get worse.

That’s why the City has installed delineator posts, in an effort to narrow the road and force traffic to slow down. The road has also been repainted to help visualize the new width of the road.

The delineator posts are made of plastic and sit on a hinge, in case they get hit, so they can easily go down and pop back up again.

Judging by the crooked look of some of the posts, some drivers had to find out the hard way about the narrowing of the road.

It’ll be interesting to see if the traffic calming measures will make a significant difference once the McDonald’s opens its doors.
