Trinity Church Festive Market supports breakfast program

Saturday's annual event had a new name but provided the same quality goodies, crafts and community support

Jan Tanouye, Coordinator of the Trinity United Church Festive Market and Maggie Duckett, co-chair for the United Church Women’s group, were pleased as punch with the number of gift donations made to this year’s event, Saturday.

In the past it was known as the craft fair, but it has since expanded and diversified, she said. In addition to a wide variety of prizes donated, there were many crafts, home-made pies on sale, as well as a hearty lunch, and cellophane wrapping services available for those purchasing Christmas gifts.

She expressed her gratitude to the many volunteers, including those working in the kitchen and manning the many booths in the church hall like Earthly Angels, who featured beautiful figurines of all shapes and sizes.

She especially wanted to thank the volunteers for Victoria’s Quilts Canada, who displayed several samples of large patchwork quilts in various colourful designs and patterns, which are given to cancer victims for warmth and spiritual support.

The fair has been an annual event that has dated back 20 years or more. The money fundraised by the church also goes towards helping the Prince of Wales Breakfast Program, Arid House and Community Cares. Tanouye admits she is a dreamer but hopes to raise $3,000.
